We think it is so important to get to know more about our employees and how they spend their free time. This month we chose to interview Tom Casper, one of our Project Managers.
How many years have you worked at IDI?
I have been working at IDI for less than 3 months. Before that, I worked at CURRENT Group, LLC for the last 3 years. IDI is very different to me in that CURRENT was a start-up technology manufacturing company based on solely private funding, whereas IDI is more established with a strong customer and revenue base. IDI is a much stronger, more stable environment with positive development and growth.
What is the best part about working in your position?
I like working with a great team of people that enjoy working together. This has really helped me to not only become familiar with the company and software, but also quickly feel like a contributing part of the overall team.
What do you find the most satisfying about working at IDI?
Learning and trying to help shape changes to grow the company. I love how people seem very open to suggestions on changes and the company is working to streamline how we manage the business. When I started I was impressed by all of the different levels of CostGuard functionality that we support.
Who is your favorite celebrity?
Tom Hanks. I like that he has always appeared humble to me with his personal success in several movies. He always seems openly friendly and has had a successful private life, which I feel is difficult for an actor or actress. I am not sure I really have a true favorite, but "BIG" was probably right up there.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Germany, since I have a lot of German heritage and have always wanted to go there. I also studied German in junior high school so I would like to challenge myself to see what I can remember.
What is your favorite restaurant?
Prorietti's in Webster, NY. I very much love the atmosphere and the food is always excellent. I never try to order the same thing as I like to continually experience different tastes. The owner's wife always is working the front and she is extremely friendly.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to play volleyball. I started playing volleyball for fun in college and continued playing in Rochester area leagues since 1987. I am currently playing on a team at the Bay View YMCA on Sunday nights.
