| Data Trumps Voice: What Will Our Mobile Market Look Like in a Year? |
| Posted: 5/19/2010 at 4:26 PM | Author: Susan K |
The TelecomTV.com headline read, “Softbank becomes first mobile telco to outsell voice with data.” In a mobile world that made us dependent on its voice service offerings, this really grabbed my attention. As much as mobile voice changed our world, mobile data has exponential power. If Softbank, a Japanese company, is a leading indicator of many of the emerging and hastening trends that we can expect to see in the U.S. over the next 12 months, what does that mean for carriers and customers? | Using Your Imagination - Info Directions Sponsors Annual Innovation Event |
| Posted: 4/30/2010 at 12:59 PM | Author: Stacey M |
Innovation is the hallmark of the telecommunications industry. I think back to when I was in college and could only use a payphone to call my roommates to ask them where we were meeting up when I was done with work. Stop doing the math, I'll stipulate to the fact that it was kind of a long time ago. Today, my cell phone...well, it pretty much manages my life (children's schedule, entertainment, family events, appointments, etc.). And why? Innovation.
That's why I'm thrilled that Info Directions is once again sponsoring the "Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival" at Rochester Institute of Technology. Imagine RIT is a campus-wide event that showcases the creative spirit of RIT students, faculty and staff. Visitors have the opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of RIT's accomplishments through interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations, exhibitions, and research projects set up throughout campus. Inflatables, games and multiple performance stages with live music and entertainment make it a great day for all ages. And did I mention, it's free?
I don't know what we'll see at this year's Imagine RIT event, but maybe it's the next big thing in telecom or gaming or even recycling. And that's the important thing. To keep looking, thinking and innovating. This is just one event, but the enthusiasm it creates for moving beyond our boundaries is destined to produce far-reaching results.
Let the creativity begin! |

| It's All in the Association |
| Posted: 4/28/2010 at 10:32 AM | Author: Stacey M | Categories: events |
Industry associations can be one of the most valuable partnerships that an organization can cultivate. The individual members of the association and those members who serve in leadership roles are responsible for representing the industry in initiatives as wide ranging as regulatory and compliance, legal advocacy, financial management, training and education, and so much more. These leadership positions call for a diversity of skills and the ability to maintain perspective. It's hard work, much of which goes on behind the scenes and with little public acknowledgement. As the Rural Cellular Association (RCA) elects new board members at its annual convention this week, we wish everyone the best of luck in taking on the challenge of continuing the mission of this important association. You have our support for your efforts and our sincere thanks for your contributions. |

| The Relationship is Still How Business Gets Done |
| Posted: 3/29/2010 at 12:53 PM | Author: Stacey M |
Upon returning from the CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas last week, I was struck by how many partners, friends, clients and associates made a true impact on making the show a success for us. As much as technology has enabled us to connect with one another while at one of these large events, it was still the relationships cultivated over the years that provided us with the opportunity to attend events with partners, share goals with clients, and meet new prospects.[Read More]
